Might Know/Should Know
posted in might know/should know, substance on Nov 14, 2008 for theme: shoes
You might know that Cinderella is the classic fairy tale about a young girl whose evil stepmother and stepsisters try to keep her from going to the prince’s Ball. (We all know the real star of the story is the glass slipper, which has a great poem of its own in “If The Shoe Fits: Voices from Cinderella.”)
You should know that the Cinderella Project and the Glass Slipper Project are just a couple of the organizations that help turn pumpkins into carriages for girls who can’t afford to attend their school formals and proms. Through donations of new and gently-used gowns, shoes and accessories, teens who wouldn’t otherwise be able to, get to experience one of the milestones of high school. Find – or start — an organization in your area, become a fairy godmother and help a young girl feel like a princess.
