The test is at a cadence of 20 sit-ups per minute (1 sit-up every 3 seconds), to be used when conducting one of the cadence sit-up tests described on this site, such as the FitnessGram curl-up test, the Connecticut partial curl up test and the President’s Challenge Partial Curl Up Test.

Movement should be smooth and at the cadence of 20 curl-ups per minute (1 curl-up every 3 seconds). Scoring: Record the total number of curl ups, up to a maximum of 79. The test is continued until exhaustion (e.g. the subject cannot maintain the set rhythm), or until they complete 79 curl-ups.
What is a 3 second cadence?
The 3-second cadence is 20RPM, the 4-second cadence is 15RPM, and the 5-second cadence is 12RPM. This is great for kettlebell interval training and great to use for testing generic fitness. You can test your client or yourself by taking for example the 4-second cadence and perform a burpee on each beep.
