Why does 720p look better than 1080i?
1080i was once the standard for HDTVs. That’s no longer the case. Its quality isn’t much better than a 720p TV….Screen Resolution: Bigger Is Better.

What is HD 1080i?
A 1080i TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, made up of 1080 interlaced scanned lines. A FULL HD TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, made up of 1080 progressively scanned lines or 1080p. The difference between the 2 is the refresh rate. Interlaced alternatively refreshes half the lines at a time.

1080i (also known as Full HD or BT. 709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number “1080” refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen.
What is the difference between 1080i 50Hz and 1080i 60Hz?
There is no noticeable difference between the two for most types of videos we watch and it depends on the country’s TV standard which rate is available however 60Hz does have a slight advantage over 50Hz when showing very fast motion such as a baseball in the air.
