Are drilled slotted rotors directional?
Table of Contents
The direction of Slots and/or Drill Holes does not determine rotational direction. Depending on the manufacturer, the slots or holes could lean either direction. If the rotors have straight cooling vanes, they can be installed on either side. The direction of the slots or holes is up to you.
Does the direction of slotted rotors matter?
The direction of the slots on the outside of the rotor do not dictate whether the rotor is a left or a right. For rotors with slots machined in the same direction as the internal cooling vanes, the slots should lean toward the back of the car.
Are left and right rotors the same?
There is no difference between left and right on drilled rotors.
Can you put vented rotors on the rear?
Vented rotors are usually installed on the front axle due to the vehicle’s Brake Bias. However, vehicles with a performance braking system can also have vented rotors on the rear axle.
How can you tell the difference between front and rear rotors?
If the rotors are side by side, Usually front brake rotors will be the largest diameter and thicker. Front brakes has to work much harder and handle far more heat. Often rear rotors have a brake drum portion also closer to the center and the disc in the outside for parking brake shoes that front rotors don’t.
What happens if you put slotted rotors on wrong side?
If you install a curved vane rotor backwards, it won’t be able to pump air as effectively. That means a curved vane rotor installed backwards can’t dissipate heat as well as it should. To install a curved vane rotor correctly, make sure the vanes at the top of the rotor are tilting rearward.
What happens if you put directional rotors on backwards?
The rotor sucks air in from the center of the rotor, pumps it through the vanes, and out through the outside edge of the rotor. This “centrifugal pump” design helps the rotor dissipate heat. If you install a curved vane rotor backwards, it won’t be able to pump air as effectively.
Which way do grooved discs go?
Slotted rotors For rotors with slots machined in the same direction as the internal cooling vanes, the slots should lean toward the back of the car. For rotors with slots machined in the opposite direction as the internal cooling vanes, the slots should lean toward the front of the car.
Why choose RDA slotted and dimpled brake rotors?
Designed to retain the original feel and performance of your car’s brakes when they were new, these traditional rotors have been sourced from the world’s best manufacturers to ensure the highest quality across the board. RDA’s expansive range has models to suit more than 2,100 vehicle applications. What Makes Slotted and Dimpled Rotors Special?
Which way do slotted rotors go?
Slotted rotors. As with the plain rotors discussed above, the internal vanes should lean toward the back of the car. The direction of the slots on the outside of the rotor do not dictate whether the rotor is a left or a right.
What are sportstop slotted rotors?
StopTech SportStop slotted rotors are machined with slots crossing the vanes, not parallel to them. 2. Unless the vehicle manufacturer specified otherwise, rotors with directional vanes are to be installed so that at the top edge of the rotor, the vanes sweep toward the back of the car.
Where are RDA brakes made?
Included in the RDA Brakes range offering RDA Brakes are the Australian and New Zealand distributor for EBC Brakes which are the largest brake pad manufacture in the UK, providing a complete range of brake components from standard vehicle applications, through to performance upgrades, as well as light commercial.
