English Literature consists of detailed study of plays, poetry and novels; making you think critically and analytically about the texts. The first year (AS) includes: the study of two modern novels, a modern play, two poetry texts, and a literary critical text. There is a coursework option.

Paper 1 is on ‘Literary Genres’. At my college students study texts which explore comedy (tragedy is the other option). Assessment is through a ‘closed book’ written exam lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes.
How long is English Lit paper 2?
1 hour and 45 minutes
For Paper 2, students will sit one paper of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
