Should wellies be tight on calves?
Wellies should be snug against your calves but not tight. Make use of the strap to have them as loose or as tight as you feel comfortable with. If you don’t like full-length wellies that go up to your knees, you might want to consider a shorter style that reaches your mid-calves instead.
How can I make my wellies fit better around my calves?
Make sure they’re snug but not tight – You want them to fit your feet properly but you don’t want them to feel uncomfortable. If you’ll be wearing much thicker socks than usual, you might need to size up at least a half size. This will make them snugger around the foot area but less so around your calves.
What size Joules wellies should I buy?
The sizing is pretty good, I usually wear a 9 or a 10 and decided to go with the 10 because they were rain boots but had to exchange for the 9 as the 10’s were too big. So if you’re between sizes I’d suggest the smaller size. They fit over my calves really well too and I have decent size calves.
Should you wear a size up in wellies?
Although sizing can vary from brand to brand, the sizing of wellies is, more often than not, the same sizing as regular footwear. Though, if you are planning on wearing welly socks or extra pairs of socks to keep your feet warm, you may want to up-size to allow extra room.
How can I stretch the calf of my boots?
To give yourself more room in your boots, put them on with thick pair of socks (or two) and then blast the areas you would like to stretch out with a blow dryer on a high or medium setting for 20 to 30 seconds. Keep the boots on while they cool, then take them off and test out the fit with a normal pair of socks.
