When should I replace Medela pump accessories?

Medela pump parts such as valves and membranes should be replaced every 2 to 8 weeks. This depends on the number of pumping sessions they are used in each day. Other Medela pump parts such as breast shields, connectors, and bottles should be replaced every 6 months or if they look dirty.
Can Medela Freestyle parts be used with pump in style?

Are all Medela parts compatible?
Note: Most Medela parts are compatible with all Medela Pumps. The exceptions are the Freestyle pumps and Hospital grade pumps. Those may have some unique parts. I have flagged a few items that are different.
Can you use breast pump without membrane?
No. It will eventually hurt, and pumps aren’t designed to run like that anyway and the motor will burn out. You could leave the breast shield parts on and put the bottles in a cooler.

Do you need to replace tubing on breast pump?
As the tubing becomes stretched and worn out over time it can impact your breast pump suction strength. If the tubing easily slides on and off the motor and backflow protector then it’s time to replace it. You should also immediately replace the tubing if any moisture gets inside.
