What is fritted glassware?
Table of Contents
In a nutshell, fritted glass is any glass printed with ink that contains ultra-small particles of ground-up glass – a.k.a. “frit”. The printing process results in the inks being fused into the glass itself.
What is a fritted glass crucible?
Fritted glass is finely porous glass through which gas or liquid may pass. It is made by sintering together glass particles into a solid but porous body. This porous glass body can also be called a frit.

What is a frit disc?
A fritted disc is sintered glass particles forming a solid but porous body of glass in a disc shape. A glass fritted disc allows gas or liquid to pass through while filtering or trapping solid particles.
How are fritted disk made?
Fritted discs are made by heating glass particles or fibers at a high enough temperature that they fuse together sufficiently that they become a relatively strong object.

Is fritted glass expensive?
Most of our glass typically ranges $15-$70 /sq. ft., depending on type, size, thickness, and fabrication. Relative Price Scale: 1 = lowest | 4 = highest cost.
How do you clean a fritted disc?
Cleaning: A new fritted filter should be washed, using vacuum, with hot hydrochloric acid and then rinsed with distilled water before use. This treatment will remove loose foreign matter such as dust. Clean fritted filters as soon as possible after use to extend their life.
What is the difference between fritted glass crucible and Gooch crucible?
Sintered glass crucible is a type of filtration device made of Pyrex glass. The key difference between Gooch crucible and sintered glass crucible is that the Gooch crucibles can withstand very high temperatures while sintered glass crucibles cannot withstand temperatures above 400 Celsius degrees.
Are more percolators better?
The percolator doesn’t make you any higher than a regular bong. In fact, slightly more THC is lost in bongs with percolators than in bongs without. Although the added water makes no difference (THC is not soluble in water), slightly more is lost to the glass of the extra chamber. However, have no fear.
Is fritted glass opaque?
Depending on which pattern, colour of ceramic frit and glass substrate you select, glass panels will either be transparent, translucent or opaque.
What is the size of a fritted disc?
…porosity (40 to 60µm) fritted disc at an angle of 90° and are used to disperse or scrub gas in liquids. The approximate overall dimension across the disc and stem is 35mm for a 20mm disc. For more information on fritted products, please check the Guide to Selecting and Using Fritted Glassware under… …anti-splash trap, modified.
What are the limitations of fritted glassware?
Thermal Limits: Fritted glassware should not be exposed to excessive temperature change or direct exposure to flame due to the fact that it has less resistance to thermal shock than standard borosilicate glassware.
What porosities are available in the fritted glassware?
Available in F, M, C and XC porosities. Fritted glassware is designed for low pressure vacuum filtration or gas flow. The MAX differential pressure should not exceed 15 PSI.
What is an extra coarse fritted disc?
…extra coarse fritted disc as the distributor. The fritted disc provides greater efficiency and more uniform dispersion of gas bubbles for complete absorption. This extra coarse frit has a nominal pore distribution of 170 to 220µm. Please check the Guide to Selecting and Using Fritted Glassware in…
